Samuel Austin Moffett
The founding spirit of Soong Eui Women’s University is forming a mature human quality based on the spirit of Christ.
Pastor Moffett set foot on Korean soil to meet the demands of the times at the dawn of a new era in 1890 with the calling for missionary work. He founded a school for women’s education for the first time in Korea.
The Soong Eui Girls’ School founded by Pastor Moffett (Korean name: Mapo Sam-yeol) sent by the Northern Presbyterian Church of America concentrated all its strength on practicing the ‘love, justice, and service’ of Christ before teaching knowledge.
