The Department of Library & Information Science was established in 1972. It is the only department of library & information science of a community college located in Seoul. It was the department which was the sixth to be opened among the departments of library & information science in 39 colleges (universities) nationwide. Therefore, currently, numerous graduates of the department are highly recognized in their major and performing specialized jobs with satisfaction.
In this department, we are educating subjects related to library and information science in response to the age of information and Big Data and subjects related to infomatics and data science needed for information computer processing & search, and data management. The department is training and churning out special librarians and information specialists equipped with the professional knowledge needed to run various libraries and information resource center, and perform information survey processing and information service.
Educational goal
We aim to train competent special librarians and information specialists with knowledge and practical techniques related to technology for managing the latest information, management of data and information resources, and operation of library and information centers.
